Festival Marks Flood Anniversary: Healing the Heartland Festival is a three-day event marking the anniversary of the great flood of 2008 in the Cedar Rapids, Iowa, region. It's an event offering music, food, fun, inspiration, and community care. Friday evening of the Festival, 11 free, giant Neighborhood BBQs will take place in flood-ravaged neighborhoods, provided by congregations from other areas of the city. Saturday events include a community run, family events, and evening concerts and speakers at the local stadium - including Barlow Girl and the Newsboys. Sunday events at the ball park will include a strength team, a big band concert, and the local Cedar Rapids Kernels baseball game. LC2C partner Serve The City is a coalition of over 40 area congregations and ministries hosting the festival. |
