| Healing the Heartland Festival is a three-day event marking the anniversary of the great flood of 2008 in the Cedar Rapids region. The festival took place in June and offered music, food, fun, inspiration and community care. Friday evening of the Festival, 11 neighborhood BBQs--free to participants--took place in flood-ravaged neighborhoods, provided by congregations from other areas of the city. Saturday events included a community run, family events, and evening concerts and speakers at the local stadium. Sunday events included a strength team, a big band concert and the local Cedar Rapids Kernels baseball game. This LC2C partner city is a coalition of over 40 area congregations and ministries which hosted the festival. | |
| LC2C partner city, Cedar Rapids, saw a nearly 50 percent increase in participation in Seek God for the City this year, a prayer movement in the 40 days leading up to Easter. Thirty-eight partners promoted the prayer effort. Serve the City is planning a weeklong Serve Fest this year in may to bless the community through acts of service. | |
