One Serve the City partner church in Cedar Rapids reports people coming to Christ almost every week. On over 90% of Sundays it has at least one white rose on the platform signifying a new commitment to Christ that week. "All without a word spoken," reports city leader Charles Daugherty. "Prayer-care-share is their lifestyle. The pastoral staff, elders and deacons all have the pray-care-share vision."

July 2010
Healing the Heartland Festival is a three-day event marking the anniversary of the great flood of 2008 in the Cedar Rapids region. The festival took place in June and offered music, food, fun, inspiration and community care. Friday evening of the Festival, 11 neighborhood BBQs--free to participants--took place in flood-ravaged neighborhoods, provided by congregations from other areas of the city. Saturday events included a community run, family events, and evening concerts and speakers at the local stadium. Sunday events included a strength team, a big band concert and the local Cedar Rapids Kernels baseball game. This LC2C partner city is a coalition of over 40 area congregations and ministries which hosted the festival.

March 2010
LC2C partner city, Cedar Rapids, saw a nearly 50 percent increase in participation in Seek God for the City this year, a prayer movement in the 40 days leading up to Easter. Thirty-eight partners promoted the prayer effort. Serve the City is planning a weeklong Serve Fest this year in may to bless the community through acts of service.

Thousands Blessed on Anniversary of Flood in Cedar Rapids:  "Thousands of residents gathered June 13 at festivals all over Cedar Rapids to commemorate the flood's anniversary with an energetic confidence in the city's future," writes The Gazette about the Heal the Heartland Festival. Hundreds of volunteers from more than 40 congregations and ministries served their community from sun up to long after sun down. At least 5,000 participated in the events in neighborhoods around the city and many committed their lives to Christ.

Sunday events at the ball park will include a strength team, a big band concert, and the local Cedar Rapids Kernels baseball game.
