North Carolina Updates

September 2010
The prayer tent in downtown Charlotte continues to be a blessing to the community. Several months ago Charlotte Awake held a meeting with women in the city to call them to begin prayer cells all over the city. Three prayer cells have begun with commitments for 15 more. One of the city leaders, Janet Butts, has birthed the Pennies for Hope project, caring for people's immediate needs as well as empowering them to take steps for the long term.

March 2010
LC2C partner Charlotte Awake has established a prayer tent in downtown Charlotte, in which intercessors are available to pray for people on the first and third Wednesday mornings of the month. Charlotte Awake has received an incredible response: "We have prayed with the homeless, those who don't have jobs and are aggressively looking, students, people just out and about. We have seen demons cast out, people encouraged, and people just needing a shoulder to cry on."

Charlotte Awake is working to bring on 10 congregations with the Loving Your Neighbor approach. Eight churches have assigned champions to enlist a prayer coordinator, care coordinator, and share coordinator to represent their churches. In addition, Charlotte Awake is developing "prayer clusters" -- groups of women praying together in their own neighborhoods, and all coming together once a quarter to a designated local church to pray and celebrate what the Lord is doing. The group is also hoping to bring "I Am Second" to Charlotte, a movement meant to inspire people of all kinds to live for God and for others.
