Dear Friends,

As we have prayed and sought additional cities that would seek to Love Their Communities to Christ through the Pray-Care-Share strategy, I met with pastors and leaders in the Vancouver, Washington, area last year. Not as a result of my efforts, but in answer to our prayers, I’m happy to tell you about a breakthrough outreach event known as Portland CityFest, to be held on August 22 and 23 in Waterfront Park, Portland. Envision the biggest party anyone has ever attended in the Portland/Vancouver area. Add two full days of live
concerts by popular Christian musicians, a children’s area, a community Care area, a skate park featuring professional, world-class skateboarding, BMX and FMX demos, and soul-stirring presentations of the gospel . . . and we can recognize amazing opportunities for friends and family to come to Jesus Christ. Add in a season of service in the weeks leading up to the festival--already 15,000 believers from the churches have shared 3-4 hours each, serving their community in preparation for the festival!--and a strategy for continuing, long-term community impact, and that, my friends, is a Luis Palau festival. This is an amazing breakthrough for the Pray-Care-Share approach to bringing people to Christ, and hopefully to uniting the cities of Portland and Vancouver. Luis Palau has literally affirmed and adopted the Pray-Care-Share strategy and has set a new standard in mass evangelism through community service projects and related events. Thank God with me for the way He is taking Pray-Care-Share to a whole new level through Luis Palau’s efforts in Portland. Also pray . . . that this event will result in new followers of Christ and that those serving their community will find their own faith made stronger through praying, caring and sharing.
