Breaking decision on California's Prop 8 . . .

Dear Friends,

In November 2008, the people of California passed Prop 8, which affirms that marriage is between one man and one woman. This proposed amendment to the constitution was tossed out by one openly gay judge, Chief U.S. District Judge Vaughn Walker, as unconstitutional. Pacific Justice Institute shared this report about the decision:

Calif. Supreme Court Says Prop. 8 Can Be Defended
11-17-2011 The California Supreme Court has just announced its decision that Prop. 8, which reaffirmed the state’s traditional definition of marriage, can be defended by ProtectMarriage.com since the Governor and Attorney General have refused to defend it. The case now returns to the federal Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco for determination of Prop. 8’s constitutionality.

Pacific Justice Institute president Brad Dacus commented, "This is not only an important victory in the battle to defend Proposition 8. It is also a victory for the voters of California to have their propositions defended, even when the Attorney General refuses to do so."

As this battle continues in our culture to remove a God-given and timeless definition of marriage, pray that right will prevail and the will of the people will be honored. At the same time, treat with respect those people who have chosen a gay lifestyle.

In Christ’s name,
Pastor Larry
