Greetings !! Thanks for your prayers for the Portland/Vancouver CityFest with Luis Palau last month . . . a breakthrough outreach event as believers came together to love their communities to
Christ . . . two highenergy packed days of activities in Waterfront Park, Portland . . . and opportunities to share Christ. Here's a quick report on what happened there for the sake of Christ . . . just look at what God can do to touch a city as Christians come together to Pray-Care-Share! Some 75,000 people attended the first night of the event . . . followed by some 110,000 the second evening! As Luis shared the Gospel message, many rededicated their lives to Christ and many met Christ as first time believers. At the festival, some 26,000 believers served in the name of Christ . . . with this simple request of the festival goers - "How can we serve you?" Here are a few of the ways that Pray-Care-Share provided "cups of cold water" in Christ's name: • Provided medical and dental clinics for the under-insured • 1000 volunteers renovated a "prayer-walked" high school • Homeless folks were connected with care agencies, and basic needs were tended to such as free phone calls and haircuts • After-school care and lunch programs for children were launched The mayor of Vancouver expressed his appreciation for the involvement of the faith community with these words: "We have a real friend in the churches because of Luis Palau." This truly was a Pray-Care-Share event, and is a model for other cities. Praise God!
